Even though the weather wasn't the greatest, we had a good time at Snowshoe! Our townhouse sat right on the the slope, next to a chair lift. Abby enjoyed watching the people whiz by and riding on the chairs. Betsy and Jacob managed one afternoon of skiing, even though it was blowing snow and messy. We all had fun exploring the village and doing some shopping. One afternoon we went to the indoor pool and slide. The final night, Carly came for dinner and to meet the Smiths. Lots of fun by all!!

On Saturday, Betsy and I took the kids and the dogs up to the barn. The dogs were being left while we went to Snowshoe. Abby and Blaise got to meet Legacy, my horse. We took turns riding with Abby in the arena. She really enjoyed it! Then we went home to open Christmas presents from us since we will be in CA for the next 10 days.

Today Abby got to open her birthday presents from us since we won't be here on her actual birthday- Christmas Eve. She especially enjoyed the Animal Hospital from Uncle Brent. Ivan became her favorite patient! Blaise couldn't be left out so he got to open one present- a guitar! Much livelier household today! I'm feeling much better too!

After a big pancake breakfast, Poppy watched Blaise while the others had some hot tub time. Nana wasn't feeling better, so she went to the doctor's and found out she might have strep throat! Now I have to stay away from everyone for 24 hours, until the antibiotics kick in. Bummer. Still great to see the Smiths from afar!

Today was all about getting over jet lag . None of their bodies knew what time it was so people were up and down all night and day. The dogs adjusted well to the little ones in the house. Later in the day Brent came over with Rudy. Abby and I made banana bread with chocolate chips. She hadn't seen he Uncle Brent in almost 2 years. Brent had never met Blaise. It was good to be together again!

With much excitement Joe and I hit the road to the Charleston airport to pick up Betsy, Jacob, Abby and Blaise! We weren't sure of their exact arrival time, but it turned out perfectly as their plane was arriving just as we drove up ( hauling my horse trailer so we would have enough room for all their luggage!). The kids did well on the long flights here, but still had to survive another 2 hour car trip to get to our home! They all took naps, showered, ate a bite and were back in bed by 7 p.m. Hopefully jet lag will be over by tomorrow evening!
